Excerpt From Lynnette Phillips Answers Two of the Most Asked Marketing Questions

“Start promoting your book prior to publication and keep it up. You don’t have to wait until the book is published. Do it now!

First step, flood the market with announcements of the publication date.

  • Offer advance copies to reviewers (ARCs).
  • Contact bloggers.
  • Send a message out to your email list, friends, and family.
  • Word-of-mouth sells books, so get people talking.
  • Keep yourself and your book visible as long as you want sales. Constant and persistent exposure is essential to your success.

Combine and blend your marketing methods and techniques. There is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ marketing plan. Use a combination of approaches that suits you and your book best. Try mixing online and offline tactics and both paid advertising and free publicity. (By the way, paid advertising doesn’t have to mean big budget.)”
